These are the goals that mom's therapy team set for her. They are hanging on her wall.

Here team includes the doctor, the speech therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist and her nurse case manager. They meet twice a week to evaluate progress. These are the goals that they set after meeting yesterday.

Sherrie spent all day with her yesterday and went to all her classes with her. She said that she is working very hard during all her classes and they even had her up yesterday standing and trying to take a few steps (with lots of help).

Its going to be a long road, but we know when mom puts her mind to something, she will do it.

Okay so I'm challenged on the computer....I put my "comment" in the wrong spot. So here it is again....I knew I'd have a time with this.

I was going to send my poem via another route but I couldn't seem to get that route to work....hopefully you can read this to your mom....hopefully it gets to you! Thanks for all you gals are doing!!! Kathy Hanford

Here's the poem I wrote for her.

Some people come, some people go
And then there’s those that stay
And plant their roots within your heart
In a warm and special way.

It’s not that they aren’t lively
Oh no…their words are free and fun
But it’s them that make the difference
The ones that get it done.

The change within comes quietly
You hardly know it’s there
Until a day comes knocking
And there’s a real big scare

Yes, that’s when you will feel it
The love that’s grown so deep
I never would have known it
But it….I’ll surely keep.

You made the difference many times
And funny thing you know?
You probably didn’t know it
But you set our hearts a glow.

You gave us what we needed
You included us with love
I know our Heavenly Father
Is smiling from above

To see his special daughter
Just lighting up the way
And helping those who need it
With the special gifts that say….

“I love you, I love you, I love you…..and I do!”

Sharon, I thank you now for being
A tool in the Master’s hands
For bringing light into this world
And love into this land.

And even now you’re helping us
As we watch you bravely fight
We’ve learned a lot from you
On how to do it right.

Keep up your ready progress
Know we are in the wings
That angels laud your efforts
And praises heaven sings.

Take comfort in the knowing
That though there are alarms
All is well in Zion
And you are in His arms.

I love you, Sharon. Get well soon because I really need your magnificent spirit in my life! And thank you for everything….forever! I owe you big time! Kathy Hanford

Kathy if you get this, your poem was beautiful!

Sharon: I know I already commented and I didn't mean for it to sound so sappy. So to redeem myself I thought I'd reply with a silly post.
I read what you have to do and I'm thinking what you really need is the Hokey Pokey! I have an awesome version on vinyl that Brent has from back in the 50's I think. I can totally send you a copy. (You think I'm joking but you wait . . . one day you will get it in the mail and laugh and laugh and laugh =)
You can do it Sharon! It's like what Santa Claus told the Winter Warlock . . .
"Put one foot in front of the other
And soon you’ll be walking cross the floor
Put one foot in front of the other
And soon you’ll be walking out the door

You never will get where you’re going
If you never get up on your feet
Come on, there’s a good tail wind blowing (let's hope your gown is closed in the back =)
A fast walking (woman) is hard to beat!"

Love ya!

Hi Sharon,
I just want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers! We have only positive thoughts--with your will and determination you will overcome this obstacle, conquer this mountain! Besides, everyone who knows you, loves you and is praying for you!
When you were are Kaiser in So. Sac, Joanne was there, too--having her baby girl last Saturday! I would have written sooner, but I have been spending each day at her house since then.

More later!
Love, Flo

Sharon - you are in my thoughts and prayers! The human body is so amazing and even more so, the human spirit! You have a wonderful vibrant spirit that will lead your body in overcoming these obstacles. I feel like we were Kaiser buddies for a day or two, even though I didn't know it at the time! :)

Sending love,
Joanne (Pierce) Welch
